While we're still more than a month away from the opening tipoff of the 2025-26 NCAA men's basketball season and updated college basketball odds, but it's never too early to take a look at what's coming in the world of college hoops. With that in mind, the team at RotoWire.com utilized the official SEC team websites to gather the class (from freshman to graduate) of all players on the active roster as of Sept. 25th. After using the average age for a player in that class, we were able to rank the oldest to youngest SEC teams for the 2025-26 season.
Note: This is not an exact average age for each roster due to limited access to player ages. This is used to be an estimate and subject to change based on roster changes.

Who Are The Oldest SEC MBB Teams?
It appears that Year One of the Bucky McMillan era at Texas A&M will be centered around veteran talent, as the Aggies currently hold the oldest age across the team's roster, at 20.47 years, as the former Samford head coach takes over for Buzz Williams, who left for the same role at Maryland during the offseason.
Last year, Williams and the Aggies posted a 23-11 record with a 11-7 mark in SEC play, bowing out in the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season but posting the program's most wins in a season since going 25-10 in 2022-23. This year, McMillan will look to replicate the success he achieved at Samford, where he won consecutive Southern Conference regular season titles in 2022-23 and 2023-24, before going 22-11 last season.
Outside of A&M, another SEC program led by a relative newcomer to the conference (the Vanderbilt Commodores) had the next oldest roster, with an average age of 20.25 years, with second-year coach Mark Byington looking to get the school back to the tournament for the second year in a row after losing to Saint Mary's, 59-56, in the first round this spring.
Throw in the Tigers, who have an average age across the team's roster of 20.14, and the Texas Longhorns, who are fourth with an average age of 20.07, and you have the upper end of the SEC men's basketball experience leaderboard covered, with the Missouri Tigers being the only other school with an average age of 20 or more, coming in fifth at 20.00 on the dot.
Can Youngest Rosters Make Noise?
Conversely, the SEC teams with the youngest age across their respective rosters in 2025-26 were the Arkansas Razorbacks (19.07), while last year's SEC champ (Auburn) was second at 19.33 years of age, followed by the Tennessee Volunteers (19.33), Kentucky Wildcats and Alabama Crimson Tide (19.50 each).
Throw in last year's SEC Tournament (and NCAA Tournament) champion Florida Gators, who have the 10th oldest roster in 2025-26 (alongside the Georgia Bulldogs), at 19.67, and you have both ends of the conference's age table covered.
This year, oddsmakers from bet365 have the Gators down as their preseason favorite to win the SEC regular season title, at +260, ahead of the Kentucky Wildcats (+325), Arkansas Razorbacks and Auburn (+750 each) and the Alabama Crimson Tide (+1000). Interestingly, the highest ranked SEC program at or near the top of our average age leaderboard is the Longhorns, who enter the season seventh on the Bet365 conference championship odds board, at +2000.
