Premier League Player News & Updates
Goalkeeper Waiver Wire Pickups – Fantrax & Sleeper GW25
Alphonse Areola, West Ham (18% Fantrax, 23% Sleeper)
I will continue to pick on Burnley until they prove me wrong, meaning Areola is a solid bet as his improved West Ham side head to Turf Moor in Gameweek 25. Areola hasn't been impressive by any means, but goalkeeper is random, highlighted his two-point performance against Chelsea being a top-10 goalkeeper performance last week. For deeper leagues, Stefan Ortega seems likely to start for Forest following the Matz Sels injury Sunday since Angus Gunn isn't viewed as a full-time replacement.
Defender Waiver Wire Picks - Fantrax & Sleeper GW25
Sepp van den Berg, Brentford (27% Fantrax, 23% Sleeper)
Defender is equally as frustrating of a position because of a lack of certainty, though that typically means it's a position that can be streamed almost weekly. Van den Berg has been on a nice run with four straight double-digit point performances, though he's only started once since December 20th. Clearances and aerial duels are the main source of points for van den Berg and he'd get a chance to compile more when Brentford take on Newcastle away at the weekend.

Alex Jimenez, Bournemouth (30% Fantrax, 24% Sleeper)
Jimenez has made two straight starts on the right side of attacking midfield and like Ryan Sessegnon last season, that makes him a little bit of a cheat code. Jimenez has scored in double figures in both starts, scoring a goal while combining for three shots, three tackles and four interceptions. Considering Jimenez is still eligible for clean sheets, he's going to rank as a top defender most weeks if he remains in the role, though the addition of Rayan could change that.
Midfielder Waiver Wire Picks - Fantrax & Sleeper GW25
Oscar Bobb, Fulham (48% Fantrax, 28% Sleeper)
Bobb makes the move to Fulham from Manchester City where he came up through the youth system, but he never got a full opportunity to run in the first team consistently, partly due to constant injuries. Bobb is considered by many to be a talented winger and he'll get a chance to live up to that potential at Fulham where opportunities should be easier to come by.
Bobb is on the back end of a hamstring issue, but he's worth a flier if you can stash him in an Injured Reserve spot while he tries to carve out a role at Fulham.
James Ward-Prowse, Burnley (38% Fantrax, 25% Sleeper)
Ward-Prowse's best days are behind him, but like Bobb, his move to Burnley may open the door for more playing time after making just five appearances for West Ham this campaign. Ward-Prowse adds experience to a Burnley side that's fighting for survival, but the question will be whether he has enough left in his legs to carve out a starting role. If he does, he'd also likely take over a majority of set pieces as a dead-ball specialist who was a fantasy monster for Southampton many years ago.
Forward Waiver Wire Picks - Fantrax & Sleeper GW25
Tammy Abraham, Aston Villa (50% Fantrax, 39% Sleeper)
By the time you read this, Abraham will likely be over the 50-percent cutoff after he started days after signing for Villa, scoring five points during the 1-0 loss to Brentford. Abraham had a goal ruled out for offsides and benefited in the starting XI due to Ollie Watkins' injury absence. Abraham has had success in the Premier League before, scoring 15 goals in 2019/20 with Chelsea, and also 17 goals in 2021/22 with Roma. There's talent in the boots, but we'll need to see if Abraham can co-exist in the starting XI with Watkins or if it'll be a straight swap situation every game.
Rayan, Bournemouth (22% Fantrax, 11% Sleeper)
Rayan will be one to watch moving forward after an impressive debut in which he scored 11 points in just 21 minutes while providing an assist. The 19-year-old is viewed as one for the future for the Cherries, but the future could be now if he's able to hit the ground running and crack into the starting XI. Rayan scored 25 goals in 101 appearances for Vasco de Gama in Brazil prior to his move.
Final Thoughts: Fantrax & Sleeper Waiver Wire Picks for GW25
With fixture congestion increasing and several squads reshaped by January moves, proactive waiver wire management is especially important in Fantrax and Sleeper leagues heading into Gameweek 25. Players stepping into new roles, benefiting from short-term injuries, or taking advantage of favourable matchups can provide a meaningful edge over the coming weeks.
As always, prioritise confirmed minutes and monitor team news closely before kickoff to maximise the value of waiver claims in Fantrax and Sleeper season-long formats.
