2025 Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
The Bears now have six pass catchers that were top-50 draft picks, adding TE Colston Loveland at No. 10 overall and Burden at No. 39 to round out an offense that also includes WR DJ Moore, WR Rome Odunze, TE Cole Kmet and RB D'Andre Swift. There isn't much depth behind those six, however, giving Burden a good to chance win the No. 3 receiver role before Week 1. He's one of the younger players from his draft class, turning 22 in December, yet managed a prolific career at Missouri with 2,263 receiving yards, 234 rushing yards and 25 total TDs over three seasons. Burden was considered a potential top-10 pick after exploding for a 86-1,212,-9 receiving line in 2023 as a sophomore, ultimately dropping to the second round after he slumped to 61-676-6 in 2024. He boosted his stock back up a bit with a 4.41 40 at the combine, where he checked in at 6-foot, 206 pounds. Burden's dense frame and strong work after the catch have evoked comparisons to his new teammate, Moore, who signed a four-year extension last summer. Chicago isn't the best landing spot to get big-time volume immediately, but it could work out well eventually if new coach Ben Johnson helps Caleb Williams rebound from an ugly rookie season. Bears add Round 2 wideout
The Bears selected Burden in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 39th overall.
ANALYSIS
Burden (6-foot, 206 pounds) was a blue-chip recruit at Missouri who mostly followed through on expectations but still went into the NFL Draft with a somewhat uneven prospect profile. More specifically, Burden has demonstrated standout athleticism (4.41-second 40-yard dash) and was clearly a standout yards-after-catch threat throughout his three-year collegiate career, but Burden never conclusively demonstrated a skill set as a route runner, especially downfield. Burden has the wheels and hands to make a downfield impact, and it could turn out that his usage in the Missouri offense needlessly limited his route tree. Burden might primarily work from the slot in Chicago in the short term, if only because DJ Moore and Rome Odunze figure to claim most of the boundary snaps.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Out of first round for Kiper
Mel Kiper Jr. of ESPN projected that the Patriots will select Burden with the 38th overall pick in his mock draft published April 8.
ANALYSIS
Burden began the draft process as a locked-in first-rounder in mock drafts, but he's now been excluded from the top-32 picks in each of Kiper's last two mocks. He tested well in terms of straight line speed at the combine, but the concern appears to be a downturn in production during his final year at Missouri, when he posted only 676 yards with six touchdowns across 12 games. While solid, that was less than half of his production from 2023.
