Could be ready for Week 1
Titans coach Brian Callahan said Wednesday that Burks (knee) is at about 80 percent strength and may be ready for Week 1, Turron Davenport of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The 2022 first-round pick is finishing up his rehab from the ACL tear he suffered Week 6 last year, with a shot to be ready for the start of the final season of his rookie contract. Burks has averaged 2.0 catches for 25.9 yards in 27 career games, with just one touchdown among his 53 receptions, providing minimal reason for hope that he can live up to his draft status. He at least has some chance to earn playing time in Tennessee, where WR roles appear open for competition behind Calvin Ridley.

2022
Burks regressed in 2023 after a 2022 rookie season that was plagued by injuries but also featured some promising moments. His production/targets cut in half from his rookie year, and injuries were again a huge problem for the 2022 first-round pick (he missed six games in both of the two seasons). The Titans don't seem to be counting on much at this point, having signed Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd this offseason after adding DeAndre Hopkins last year. New coach Brian Callahan figures to emphasize the passing game far more than the old coaching staff in Tennessee, but Burks looks to be only the fourth wide receiver and won't necessarily see a lot of targets even if injuries ahead of him lead to steady playing time. Any hope for a Year 3 breakout probably requires a big season from QB Will Levis along with Ridley and/or Hopkins missing time.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Unlikely to have option picked up
In his review of first-round picks from the 2022 NFL Draft, Marc Ross of NFL.com believes the Titans should decline Burks' fifth-year option on his rookie contract.
ANALYSIS
Burks had high expectations right out of the draft as he was viewed as the Titans' replacement for A.J. Brown, who Tennessee traded to Philadelphia after the two sides couldn't come to terms on a contract extension. Burks had a solid rookie campaign, finishing with 33 catches on 54 targets for 444 yards and one touchdown across 11 regular-season games. However, injuries and inconsistent play limited Burks over the next two years, and his 2024 season came to an end in early December when he underwent surgery to repair ACL damage in his knee. Ross believes that whoever the Titans hire as their new general manager should almost certainly decline Burks' fifth-year rookie option.
