2025 Fantasy Outlook
Ruckert has a chance to emerge as the top option in the Jets’ new-look tight end room, but the 2022 third-round draft pick is competing with rookie second-round pick Mason Taylor and free-agent signing Stone Smartt. While Ruckert might be the best blocker of the group, he hasn’t done much as a pass catcher in the NFL, posting just 264 receiving yards through 41 NFL games. The 6-foot-5 TE is still searching for his first NFL touchdown, but nine of Ruckert’s 12 touchdowns at Ohio State came while playing with new Jets QB Justin Fields. Read Past Outlooks
Prepared for increased role
Ruckert is set to have a bigger role in Sunday's game against the Jaguars, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
In the absence of Mason Taylor (neck), Ruckert is set to take on a bigger role, likely in both the pass and run game. The tight end will likely be utilized as an additional blocker to protect Brady Cook and to open up holes for Breece Hall, but his ability in the receiving game cannot be understated. Ruckert has 18 receptions for 150 yards and one touchdown on 21 targets this season as the backup to Mason Taylor. Being thrust into the No. 1 tight end role means the 2022 third-rounder could see a further increased target share in Sunday's contest as well.

Ruckert barely saw the field as a rookie, and the Jets’ 2022 third-round draft pick out of Ohio State wasn’t much of a factor in his sophomore season, catching 16 of 22 targets for 151 yards while spending most of the season as the third-string tight end behind Tyler Conklin and C.J. Uzomah. Conklin’s still around atop the depth chart, but Uzomah was released in March, so Ruckert’s poised to play a larger role in his third NFL campaign on a Jets offensive that’s expected to take a collective step forward with Aaron Rodgers returning under center after missing all but four snaps in 2023. The Lindenhurst, Long Island native grew up a Jets fan, but after scoring 12 touchdowns over his last three years at Ohio State, Ruckert has yet to experience what it’s like to find the end zone as a member of his favorite NFL team.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Top-two TE for Jets
Ruckert is a lock to make the Jets' 53-man roster and has a firm grasp on one of the top two spots on the team's tight end depth chart, per Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic.
ANALYSIS
Ruckert is more well-rounded and a better blocker than offseason addition Stone Smartt, which is why Rosenblatt views Ruckert as a lock to make the team out of training camp, while Smartt's considered on the bubble. Rookie second-round pick Mason Taylor is the favorite to emerge as the starter, but Ruckert's edge in experience could help him push Taylor for the top spot.
