2025 Fantasy Outlook
Royals faces a difficult path to immediate playing time in Kansas City as a late-fourth-round pick, joining an offense that uses a lot of multi-TE formations and already has Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy and Marquise Brown at wide receiver. That doesn't mean Royals should be completely ignored in redraft leagues, considering Rice's off-field issues or Brown's poor durability could crack the door open for the rookie. Royals was oft-discussed as a Day 2 pick before the draft, having run a 4.42 40 at the 2025 Combine at 6-foot, 205 pounds, after catching 126 passes for 1,914 yards and 21 TDs in 20 games over the past two seasons for Utah State. NFL teams may have been skeptical because of his limited route tree and mediocre competition in the Mountain West Conference, but you won't find many Day 3 picks with a better combination of production, size and speed, not to mention the boost to Royals' long-term outlook upon joining an offense led by coach Andy Reid and QB Patrick Mahomes. Sees some first-team reps
Royals logged most of his repetitions during Wednesday's practice with the first-team offense, Nate Taylor of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Taylor notes that Royals fared well Wednesday while running routes alongside fellow wideouts Xavier Worthy and Hollywood Brown. The report adds that the rookie fourth-rounder was often on the field when Rashee Rice wasn't, which is worth noting given the possibility Rice may be suspended by the NFL before the start of the season.

Day 3 pick to watch early
Nick Baumgardner of The Athletic believes Royals is among the Day 3 draft picks best positioned to make an impact as a rookie.
ANALYSIS
Royals will battle to carve out a role in a Kansas City wide receiver room that also includes Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy and Hollywood Brown. The rookie fourth-round pick has the skills to see the field despite that depth, as Royals was expected to go earlier in the 2025 NFL Draft if not for injury concerns. If he can earn the trust of star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Royals could outperform many of the wide receivers that heard their names called before him in the draft.
