Best NFL Bets Week 16: Eagles vs Commanders
NFL Week 16 brings us a Saturday doubleheader, including the Eagles vs Commanders showdown in Washington, where the Eagles are nearly a touchdown favorite. Let's dig into our best bets for this contest.
The Eagles broke a three-game skid last week to all but secure the NFC East with a 9-5 mark. One Eagles win or one Dallas loss, and Philly hosts a playoff game in January. The Philadelphia offense has been inconsistent and often ineffective, and they are averaging 22.9 points per game. It's hard to put much stock in last week's blowout win over a non-competitive Raiders squad. However, the defense has been the team's better unit, and they allow an average of 19.4 points per contest.
They'll be up against the Commanders, owners of a 4-10 record, a disappointing mark for a team that played in the NFC Championship game last year. Washington scores 20.1 points per game while allowing 26.8 per contest. The Commanders beat the Giants last week to break an eight-game losing streak.

Philadelphia Eagles at Washington Commanders Betting Picks This Week
The Eagles are set up to continue their success on offense from last week. Jalen Hurts should be able to attack the weak group of Washington corners with A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, and it's unlikely the Commanders will be able to produce a strong pass rush. Also, as long as Philly tries to get Saquon Barkley running on the edges, they'll avoid the strong defensive interior, and the running back should have one of his better games of the season. Of course, the Eagles have not been consistent on offense for most of the year. Despite likely success, don't expect them to score on every drive.
Washington shut down quarterback Jayden Daniels for the rest of the season, so Marcus Mariota will get another start. Although the veteran has some good qualities, like running with the football, he's a backup for a reason. Look for the Eagles to put top cornerback Quinyon Mitchell on Terry McLaurin, which will cause the Commanders issues keeping up on the scoreboard. Also, the team's rushing attack is average at best, which bodes poorly against a front like Philly's. It's possible that Washington falls behind and is able to put up some late and meaningless scores, and that could make this game closer than it should be. Still, the Eagles need to start peaking before the playoffs, and they should win by more than a touchdown.
I predict the Eagles win this game 28-20
