Best NBA Bets Today (Thursday, Jan. 29)
Nikola Vucevic over 17.5 points (-109) vs. Miami Heat
DraftKings, 4:22 PM CT
Alex Barutha: Miami continues to struggle on defense, giving up 121.4 points per 48 minutes across the past 10 games -- second-most in the NBA. During this stretch, they're allowing the most non-restricted-area buckets in the paint (12.2) and the fourth-most made above-the-break threes (10.9). Those are two areas of the court in which Vucevic thrives. Over the past 10, he's making 3.2 shots in the paint (non-RA) and 1.3 shots from above the break -- scoring 18.8 PPG overall.
Dillon Brooks under 21.5 points vs. Detroit Pistons (-102)
DraftKings Sportsbook 12:45 p.m. CT
Kirien Sprecher: Brooks has scored 26 points in consecutive games and should continue to handle increased usage in Devin Booker's absence. However, over his last eight games, Brooks has scored at least 20 points four times, but all four of those games were against Brooklyn or Miami. The Pistons are a much tougher defensive squad than either of those teams and have multiple players who can make Brooks' life difficult. Brooks will also have his hands full with trying to slow down Cade Cunningham, which could limit his effectiveness on offense. In the previous meeting between these teams this season, Brooks posted 16 points on 4-for-16 shooting.
Charlotte Hornets -3.5 at Dallas Mavericks (-110)
DraftKings, 4:30 PM CT
Nick Whalen: We're going to keep riding the Hornets, who are coming off of another convincing win over the Grizzlies on Wednesday night. Charlotte now gets a Mavs team that's also on the second night of a B2B and will be without Naji Marshall, who's arguably their second-best player with Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis sidelined. Charlotte continues to hold the NBA's best NET rating (+15.5) over the last 10 games while ranking first in offense and fourth in defense. On the second night of B2Bs this season, the Hornets are an NBA-best 9-1 ATS.
