2026 Fantasy Outlook
Age/level always needs to be noted with Walcott, as he's been aggressively assigned every step of the way since being one of the top prizes of the 2023 international signing class. The 19-year-old infielder was the youngest qualified hitter at Double-A by over six months and was 10 percent better than league average (110 wRC+) while logging a .355 on-base percentage, 13 homers and 32 steals in 124 games. Walcott, a tooled up 6-foot-4 Bahamian shortstop who has seen time at third base, made positive gains in strikeouts (25.6 K% to 19.6 K%), walks (10.3 BB% to 12.7 BB%) and swing rate (46.3% to 44.1%) compared to his 2024 output. Walcott went 2-for-4 with a double in his first and only Arizona Fall League game before getting shut down with arm fatigue. Star upside remains for Walcott, whose exit velocities, age and frame portend at least plus power in his MLB prime. He could generate buzz in spring training and arrive ahead of schedule, but as things stand, a late-August MLB debut seems like the most likely arrival date based on the current incentives. Aiming for August return

February 24, 2026
Rangers GM Ross Fenstermaker said Tuesday that Walcott could be return for game action in August, "if all things according to plan" in his rehab from the internal brace procedure he underwent on his right elbow, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis
Walcott could return to hitting after 5-to-6 months, but it'll likely be longer before he's cleared to take the field. The 19-year-old is Texas' top prospect, and getting him back into game action, even in a limited capacity, would set him up nicely heading into 2027. Walcott spent the 2025 campaign at Double-A Frisco, where he totaled 13 homers, 32 steals and a .255/.355/.386 slash line in 124 contests.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2025
2024
2023
Walcott's assignment to High-A at the beginning of the season - just three weeks after his 18th birthday - was the most aggressive assignment of any prospect last year. He had a .103 average and 17 strikeouts after his first 11 games, but from there, the tooled up Bahamian infielder slashed .286/.357/.488 with 12 home runs, 28 steals and a 23.8 percent strikeout rate in 110 games, including a five-game run at Double-A to close the campaign. An obvious raw physical tools comp for Walcott would be Elly De La Cruz, as they're both built like NBA shooting guards with monster raw power and speed. However, Walcott conquered High-A at 18 while De La Cruz was 20 when he mastered that level, so there aren't any restrictions on where Walcott's game could be in six months or a year. The most famous recent Bahamian prospect, Jazz Chisholm, also mastered High-A at the age of 20. The most likely outcome would probably be for Walcott to split 2025 between Double-A and Triple-A, setting up a 2026 bid for an Opening Day roster spot.
Walcott has the frame (6-foot-4, 190 pounds) and elite athleticism to stand out in the field, even to the untrained eye. The Bahamian infielder spent most of his age-17 season in the Arizona Complex League, while also playing nine games in the Dominican Summer League and four games at High-A at the end of the year. He needs to make significant improvements as a hitter to reach his superstar ceiling. Given how poor complex-league pitching is, Walcott's 32.5 percent strikeout rate there was concerning, even when factoring in his youth. He is a plus runner, and it's not clear how much he will slow down as he fills out his frame. It's possible he just gets stronger and doesn't slow down, but he could also really fill out and move to third base. For what it's worth, he has been benched by the team due to not managing his emotions on the field. If he can improve his plate discipline, particularly against offspeed pitches, the sky is the limit for Walcott, but the risk is extreme.
Walcott's signing bonus will be north of seven figures, but south of $4 million, given that the Rangers only had $4.144 million to work with, and they also landed Pablo Guerrero, the brother of Vladimir Guerrero Jr. That said, Walcott is one of the more in-demand prospects from this class for dynasty due to his plus power and above-average speed. Hailing from the Bahamas, the 6-foot-3 shortstop gets compared to countrymen Jazz Chisholm, but he will need to show that his hit tool is ready for pro pitching.
