Best WNBA Bets Today: Friday, August 8
Alanna Smith over 20.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists (-130)
Fanduel Sportsbook, 10:35 a.m. CT
Steve Bulanda: In two games against Washington this season, Smith had 14 and 17 shot attempts and averaged 25.5 PRA. In four games when Napheesa Collier has been sidelined, Smith has averaged 11.75 field goal attempts, compared to just 7.24 attempts when Collier plays. Tonight presents both a solid matchup and an opportunity. Last time Smith faced the Mystics without Collier in the lineup, she had her best game of the year, scoring 26 points while adding 5 rebounds and 2 assists.
Parlay it with Sonia Citron (-365) to score 10+ points for a low-risk bet at much more enticing odds (+118).
Sabrina Ionescu under 20.5 points (-115)
DraftKings Sportsbook, 12:35 p.m. CT
Kirien Sprecher: New York has played Dallas twice over its last seven games. Against Dallas, Ionescu totaled only 26 points in two contests. In the other five matchups, Ionescu averaged 30 points per game. By all measures, the Wings have one of the worst defenses in the league, but they have completely stymied Ionescu. I don't expect that to change Friday.
Jewell Loyd to score 12+ points (-125)
DraftKings Sportsbook, 12:45 a.m. CT
Kirien Sprecher: Since moving to the bench, Loyd has scored at least 12 points in four of five games. Over the last two contests, Loyd has averaged 28.5 minutes a night, totaling 41 points. The shift to a reserve role has brought out the best in Loyd, who was struggling mightily with her new team. Seattle boasts one of the best frontcourts in the league and will focus on A'ja Wilson, so the Aces will need Loyd at her best on the perimeter if they're going to continue their recent winning ways.
