2026 Fantasy Outlook
There are a lot of players who would have loved to have the 2025 that Morikawa had, but it was not good enough for this two-time major champion. After a great start to 2025 with six straight finishes of T17-or-better, including a pair of runner-ups, Morikawa would log just one more top-10 finish the rest of the season. The putter was a major problem once again, which was a suprise after the best SG: Putting season of his career in 2024. Morikawa was also top 10 in both SG: Around-the-Green and scrambling, but those fell outside the top 80 in 2025. The iron play was still as good as ever at third in SG: Approach, however. The larger problem for Morikawa is the fact that he hasn't won at the same clip he did early in his career. Outiside of a fall win in 2023, his last regular season victory on the PGA Tour was his Open Championship win back in 2021. Morikawa's upside is as high as anyone, but it'll be hard to finish amongst the top earners on the PGA Tour if he can't clear that mental barrier and get back in the win column. Read Past Outlooks

ANALYSIS
Morikawa racked up seven birdies and an eagle during Sunday's final round at Yokohama Country Club, ultimately closing out his week in Japan with 21 total par-breakers across 72 holes. The T14 result is Morikawa's best PGA Tour finish since tying for eighth at the Rocket Classic back in June.

2019
Morikawa really did everything but win in 2024. After a somewhat slow start to the season, everything changed for him with a T3 at the Masters. That started a streak of 13 straight top-25 finishes. Morikawa also had five top-four finishes in that stretch. He nearly came from behind to win the FedExCup, but was just edged out by Scottie Scheffler at East Lake. We don't really question Morikawa's ball-striking, but what was so impressive about his 2024 season was that he ranked 10th in SG: Around-the-Green and ninth in scrambling. He had never previously been inside the top-80 in either of those categories since he came on the PGA Tour. If Morikawa keeps performing on and around the greens, he could be in for a big season in 2025.
