2025 Fantasy Outlook
Rudolph signed a one-year contract this offseason to return to Pittsburgh, where he spent the first five years of his NFL career. He went 1-4 as a starter for the Titans last year, throwing nine touchdowns and nine interceptions on 228 pass attempts for one of the worst teams in the league. Rudolph will have more help around him if he ends up playing this season, as the Steelers have a solid defense and offensive line, though their pass-catching group likely will be no better than average even if WR DK Metcalf proves to be an upgrade on George Pickens (traded to the Cowboys). Aaron Rodgers signed with the Steelers in June, making an injury the only path to snaps for Rudolph. Read Past Outlooks
RANKS
Set to operate as backup in 2025
Rudolph is set to open the 2025 season in a backup capacity for the Steelers after the team signed Aaron Rodgers on Saturday, Brian Batko of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
ANALYSIS
Rudolph opened OTAs as the Steelers' No. 1 option at quarterback, but Rodgers had been continually linked to the team during the offseason. A one-year deal between Rodgers and Pittsburgh finally materialized Saturday, meaning that Rudolph will be left to compete with Will Howard for the team's No. 2 quarterback job ahead of the 2025 campaign. Rudolph will likely continue to handle a slightly elevated role for the remainder of OTAs while Rodgers acclimates to the team. However, Rudolph expressed openness to the impending move to a backup role, especially once training camp begins next month.

Rudolph started the final four games, including playoffs, last season and was better than decent for the Steelers. In Weeks 16-18, he was second in the league in both completion percentage (74.6) and YPA (10.1) before falling to the Bills in the wild-card playoffs and finishing with a 5/1 TD/INT. The Steelers re-made their QB room this offseason, though, and Rudolph signed a one-year deal with the Titans where he will compete with Malik Willis to back up Will Levis. Rudolph is big and strong (6-5, 235) but doesn’t have the arm power nor the speed of Willis. If he wins the backup job and finds his way to snaps, he at least will have a good receiving corps to target in Calvin Ridley, DeAndre Hopkins and Tyler Boyd.

Tuning our Rodgers rumors
Rudolph said he's focused on helping the Steelers and not the rumors of Aaron Rodgers signing with the team, Dale Lolley of the Steelers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Rudolph is the only realistic Week 1 starter currently on the Steelers' roster, as he tops Skylar Thompson and rookie Will Howard both on the depth chart and in experience. New reports of Rodgers potentially joining the team emerge on nearly a daily basis, something Rudolph acknowledges he has no control over. Rudolph spent the first four seasons of his career in Pittsburgh and returned to the team this offseason after one year in Tennessee.
