Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Wilson is something of a polarizing IDP option. He struggles in coverage and doesn't provide much in terms of pass rush, but he's a reliable tackler and is arguably an elite run defender. Between that and his secure role in the Bengals' defense, he's managed to reach 100 total tackles in each of the last four seasons. The story will remain the same entering 2025, as Wilson's importance to the unit is likely to be even more pronounced after the offseason departure of Germaine Pratt. If Wilson can remain on the field, he should be in for a massive season. That's no given considering he's played 13 or fewer games in three of his five pro seasons, but Wilson looks to be healthy entering training camp after knee surgery ended his 2024 season prematurely. From an IDP perspective, Wilson had a banner year, with a career-high 135 tackles, four interceptions, three forced fumbles and a sack. However, he also faced unwanted scrutiny due to his tackling form in a Thursday night loss to the Ravens, when Mark Andrews got hurt on a Wilson tackle that was classified as a "hip-drop" tackle, a maneuver that will be penalized in 2024. Wilson also was more vulnerable in coverage - opposing quarterbacks completed 36 of 46 passes when targeting Wilson's coverage, good for 365 yards and four touchdowns.

Gets support from head coach
Head coach Zac Taylor defended Wilson on Friday after the linebacker was involved in tackles and plays that led to multiple injuries to Ravens players Thursday night, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Taylor commented that Wilson is "a guy I'm proud to coach and proud to be a part of this team." The Bengals linebacker took down Ravens tight end Mark Andrews using a hip-drop, a tackling technique that, while legal, has gained scrutiny among NFL player safety personnel and owners. Ravens head coach John Harbaugh posited after Thursday's game whether the hip-drop Wilson used on Andrews that caused a season-ending fibula and ankle injury to the tight end was necessary. Harbaugh also noted that the Ravens are going to have Wilson's tackle on quarterback Lamar Jackson -- which also led to an injury, but no offensive snaps missed -- reviewed by the league office.
