2025 Fantasy Outlook
Between his high-ankle sprains and the sprawling dysfunction of the Colts offense the last two years, it's been a while since Taylor demonstrated what he's truly capable of. Unfortunately for him, Taylor isn't eligible for the change-of-scenery glow-up that Christian McCaffrey, Saquon Barkley and Derrick Henry all benefited from in recent years. Whatever Taylor accomplishes will likely need to be done in spite of the Colts offense. The high-ankle injuries he suffered both of the last two years are a legitimate, mounting concern, and it makes sense that Taylor would be subjected to more leg stress given how he forces defenders to pile on to bring him down. Meanwhile, it'll be easy for defenses to key on Taylor if the Colts continue to get terrible QB play from Anthony Richardson (and/or Daniel Jones). The good news is that Taylor really is a compelling threat from scrimmage, similar to guys like McCaffrey, Barkley and Henry, so if the Colts turn out better than expected so should Taylor's fantasy fortunes. It's just difficult to give Indianapolis much benefit of the doubt on that front, especially when defenses know their weekly mission is to sell out to stop Taylor. Read Past Outlooks
RANKS
Grinds for over 100 yards in loss
Taylor rushed 25 times for 87 yards while bringing in three of four targets for 14 receiving yards in Sunday's 18-16 loss to Seattle.
ANALYSIS
Since 44-year-old Philip Rivers wasn't able to be a downfield threat in his first start since 2021, he wasn't able to take the pressure off Taylor and Indianapolis' ground game Sunday. Once the Seahawks realized this, the defense was consistently stacking the box against the Colts' top weapon on offense, resulting in a pedestrian mark of 3.5 yards per carry. Taylor suffered a similar fate against Jacksonville in Week 14 after Daniel Jones (Achilles) left the contest, so it may be tough sledding for the superstar running back going forward without the threat of a deep passing attack. The 26-year-old Taylor will receive a heavy workload to help offset the recent drop in efficiency, and a soft matchup against the 49ers' defense next Monday boosts his prospects for Week 16.

Taylor's 2023 season was a bit of a circus at first, and there might have been a little rust as a result of the holdout/lockout/injury feud that kept him out of training camp and the first four weeks of the season. Once he settled in and got rolling, Taylor reestablished himself as one of the NFL's top backs, running for 704 yards and seven touchdowns on 155 carries (4.5 YPC) over his final eight games. The rushing average was a bit low by his standards -- Taylor averaged more than 5.0 yards per carry in his first two NFL seasons -- but overall it was a strong showing in a mediocre offense. Fellow running back Zack Moss then left for Cincinnati in free agency, setting up Taylor to handle a larger share of the Colts' backfield work in 2024, though QB Anthony Richardson figures to get a lot of the goal-line carries. While Taylor will always be known as a run-first RB, the departure of Moss combined with the three-year, $42 million extension Taylor signed last fall gives the Colts good reason to keep him on the field for a lot of passing downs. The ankle troubles of previous years left Taylor alone in 2023 -- it was a thumb injury that cost him Weeks 13 through 15 -- and the Colts' lack of investment in RB depth hints at confidence he can carry the load this year.
