2025 Projections
Pittsburgh adds big DL 21st overall
The Steelers selected Harmon in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 21st overall.
ANALYSIS
Harmon (6-foot-5, 313 pounds) could be the next in the long line of Pittsburgh's tradition of finding dominant defenders in the front seven, with the former Oregon and Michigan State star probably projecting as an end in Pittsburgh's three-man fronts. Harmon is a solid bet to play in a full-time role as a rookie, taking the end reps opposite Cameron Heyward. With a heavy frame and 4.95 speed at his disposal Harmon could be both a plus run defender and pass rusher.

Shedeur Sanders might yet up on the Giants, though GM Joe Schoen might need to trade back into the first round to get it done.

You won't have to look far to find Cam Ward, but 101 other players are also mentioned in Mario Puig's projection for the top three rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Preferred pick over QB
Harmon, whom the Steelers selected out of Oregon with the 21st overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, was one of a handful of players the team had decided it wouldn't pass on if he was available, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Steelers had their choice of Ole Miss's Jaxson Dart or Colorado's Shedeur Sanders when their turn came up in the first round, but Harmon was the somewhat surprising selection. General manager Omar Khan said the organization wasn't tempted to draft either quarterback at that point, saying Harmon had been coveted for his disruptive presence on the defensive line. Meanwhile, head coach Mike Tomlin noted Harmon "has Steeler DNA" and added he felt the Oregon product could dominate against both the run and the pass.
