2025 Fantasy Outlook
A move from Chicago to Atlanta served Mooney well, even though fellow 2024 free-agent signing Kirk Cousins was a bust. Mooney's production surprisingly was neck and neck with Drake London's for most of the season, up until the final few weeks when London caught fire with Michael Penix at QB (and Mooney missed Week 18 with a shoulder injury). The injury cost him his second 1,000-yard season -- something he'd previously done in 2021, with 1,055 yards on 141 targets in a terrible Chicago offense -- following a pair of sub-500-yard years in 2022 and 2023. While not strictly used as a deep threat, Mooney had career highs for YPR (15.5), YPT (9.0) and aDOT (12.5), with his sub-4.4 speed in a 177-pound frame making for a nice contrast alongside the hulking London. It'll be those two spearheading Atlanta's passing game again, aided by TE Kyle Pitts, RB Bijan Robinson and a strong offensive line, which leaves Penix and incumbent offensive coordinator Zac Robinson as the major question marks. The other big question for Mooney personally is health, after a shoulder injury suffered at the start of training camp kept him off the field through the preseason. Falcons coach Raheem Morris sounded unsure if Mooney will be ready for Week 1, potentially leaving the team thin at a position with unexciting options beyond London and Mooney. Read Past Outlooks
RANKS
Makes three catches vs. Buccaneers
Mooney secured three of six targets for 35 yards during Thursday's 29-28 win over Tampa Bay.
ANALYSIS
Mooney played 92 offensive snaps with Drake London (knee) sidelined again, but he was outpaced in the receiving game by all of Kyle Pitts (11-166-3), Bijan Robinson (8-82-0) and David Sills (6-78-0). Across 12 regular-season appearances so far, Mooney has surpassed 50 receiving yards on just two occasions. He'll remain difficult to trust for fantasy purposes Week 16 on the road against Arizona, even if London is unavailable again.

Mooney signed with the Falcons in free agency after spending the first four years of his career in Chicago. He'll likely be a full-time outside receiver and deep threat across from Drake London, joining an offense that otherwise lacks WR depth for new QB Kirk Cousins and new coordinator Zac Robinson. Back in 2021, Mooney had 1,055 yards and four touchdowns on 140 targets when forced into a No. 1 receiver role for the Bears. In the two years and 27 games since, Mooney has 907 yards and three TDs on 122 targets, with a severe leg injury and a run-heavy offense in Chicago having limited his involvement. The move to Atlanta gives him his best chance yet for efficient per-target production, though he's unlikely to ever match the massive volume from 2021 again.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Nominal WR1 again in Week 15
Mooney will work as Atlanta's de facto No. 1 wide receiver in Week 15 against the Buccaneers, as Marc Raimondi of ESPN.com reports that Drake London has been ruled out due to a knee injury.
ANALYSIS
London's set for a fourth consecutive absence Thursday. In the three previous games, Mooney has worked as the top option in Atlanta's underwhelming receiving corps. Over that span, Mooney has six catches on 12 targets for 105 yards and one touchdown. Those numbers aren't befitting of a typical No. 1 wide receiver, though he narrowly missed scoring a second touchdown over that span by stepping out of bounds prior to going back in and catching a would-be touchdown pass.
