Alex Freeland

Freeland doesn't have a plus tool, but he is average to above-average at everything that matters, both in real life and in fantasy. A fine shortstop who could also handle third base or second base, Freeland has above-average speed and stole 31 bases on 33 attempts in 136 games across High-A, Double-A and Triple-A in 2024. He hit .260 with a 21.6 percent strikeout rate, a 14.8 percent walk rate and 18 home runs during his breakout age-22 season, although his isolated power ticked down notably after each promotion. His 31.5 percent hard-hit rate was a very strong mark for a middle infielder his age, and Freeland banged 32 doubles on the campaign. The fact that he will provide quality defense at positions of need while working the count and hitting for a bit of power should allow him to be an everyday player at some point, although it will be tough for him to break through with the Dodgers early in 2025.
