2025 Fantasy Outlook
Freeland doesn't have a plus tool, but he is average to above-average at everything that matters, both in real life and in fantasy. A fine shortstop who could also handle third base or second base, Freeland has above-average speed and stole 31 bases on 33 attempts in 136 games across High-A, Double-A and Triple-A in 2024. He hit .260 with a 21.6 percent strikeout rate, a 14.8 percent walk rate and 18 home runs during his breakout age-22 season, although his isolated power ticked down notably after each promotion. His 31.5 percent hard-hit rate was a very strong mark for a middle infielder his age, and Freeland banged 32 doubles on the campaign. The fact that he will provide quality defense at positions of need while working the count and hitting for a bit of power should allow him to be an everyday player at some point, although it will be tough for him to break through with the Dodgers early in 2025. Whenever he does settle in as a regular, Freeland could produce similarly to Dansby Swanson in fantasy. Read Past Outlooks

Hammering ball at Triple-A
Freeland is slashing .264/.379/.440 with eight home runs, 12 steals, a 15.7 percent walk rate and a 25.2 percent strikeout rate in 64 games for Triple-A Oklahoma City.
ANALYSIS
Freeland hasn't been dominant (113 wRC+), but he's been pretty good across the board, particularly for an age-appropriate shortstop at the highest level of the minors. His 50.3 percent hard-hit rate is very strong and he's been a line drive machine (27.0 LD%) while using the whole field (31.3 Oppo%) and rarely chasing out of the zone (20.8 O-Swing%). Freeland isn't on the 40-man roster, but after playing 103 games at Triple-A across 2024 and 2025, he appears ready for the big leagues if the Dodgers have a need or if he's dealt to another team at the trade deadline.
