Butler brought in two of four targets for 19 yards and a touchdown during the Battlehawks' 36-18 loss to the Defenders in the XFL Conference Championship Game on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Butler was able to salvage his fantasy night with a one-handed 12-yard touchdown grab in the latter portion of the third quarter. The big-bodied former tight end saw a statistical downturn in 2025 due to both injury and the switch at quarterback from AJ McCarron to the likes of Manny Wilkins, Max Duggan and Brandon Silvers, none which were able to consistently replicate the chemistry Butler had enjoyed with the departed veteran signal-caller. Butler parlayed successful spring showings in 2023 and 2024 into training camp/preseason opportunities with the Steelers and Bengals, respectively, but at 29 years old and coming off a disappointing season, it remains to be seen if he'll draw interest again from an NFL team this summer.
