Van de Beek was forced off the pitch in the 33rd minute of Tuesday's clash against Athletic in heavy pain as the midfielder suffered an Achilles rupture. This is a big blow for the Dutch player since he was returning from an Achilles injury, and if it is on the same foot, that new setback will likely keep him sidelined for a long period, between six to nine months. His absence will allow Azzedine Ounahi to take a larger role in the midfield for Girona.
