Best Bets for Michigan Wolverines vs Oklahoma Sooners CFB Week 2
I broke down some of my favorite bets for this MICH-OU matchup in the section below:
Oklahoma Sooners -4.5 (-115)
Freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood leads the No. 15 Michigan Wolverines into Norman to face the No. 18 Oklahoma Sooners in a prime-time matchup on Saturday night. Underwood was the nation's No. 1-ranked prospect in the 2025 recruiting class and will attempt to record a statement win for Michigan against Oklahoma's defense, led by head coach Brent Venables.
Currently, the Wolverines are +4.5 point underdogs on the point spread. Sooners transfer quarterback John Mateer lit up their non-major opponent, Illinois State, with an 81 percent completion rate, three touchdowns, and over 390 passing yards in Week 1.
The lines have moved in favor of the Sooners since opening. However, there has been a bit of a dip toward the Wolverines in the past few days, sliding back from Oklahoma -6.0 to Oklahoma -4.5.
The point total continues to plummet after opening at 47.5. Now, it's sitting down at 44.5, likely due to Venables and Michigan DC Wink Martindale's top-tier defensive units.
For the first best bet to place in this game, let's bet on Oklahoma to cover -4.5 at -115. Mateer has a ton of experience, starting multiple seasons at Washington State, while Underwood will only log his second career start in a high-stakes, hostile environment.
Under 44.5 (-105)
The point total line movement is intriguing. 44.5 is low for a college football game, especially between two top-20-ranked programs.
Michigan and Oklahoma both failed to score 40 points against soft defenses in their Week 1 openers. Now that the defenses are improved, expect a much tighter game, especially with two experienced coaches scheming up their defensive units.
This game could quickly become a dogfight like the matchup we saw between Ohio State and Texas last week. Let's bet on under 44.5 total points between the Wolverines and Sooners at a slight value with -105.
Any Team to Score 30+ Points – No (-155)
We'll follow the defensive narrative for this final best bet. Factor in Underwood's inexperience playing a top defensive unit on the road at this level. Then, remember Martindale's Michigan defense has enough talent and discipline to make Oklahoma a one-dimensional offense, forcing Mateer to air it out.
In the Game Props market, we're targeting Any Team to Score 30+ Points – No at a premium. Even at -155, this game is likely going to be 23-21 or 24-17 once the final whistle blows.
Michigan Wolverines vs. Oklahoma Sooners Picks
- Oklahoma -4.5 (-115)
- Under 44.5 (-105)
- Any Team to Score 30+ Points - No (-155)
