Facing Gaziev at UFC Qatar
HeavyweightUFC
September 11, 2025
Spivac is scheduled to face Shamil Gaziev at UFC Qatar on Nov. 22, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
This matchup will end up taking place a bit later than anticipated, as Spivac was expected to face off against Gaziev in May before Gaziev went down with an undisclosed injury and the bout was called off. Spivac has had a tough time of late, suffering two consecutive losses, with his last dating back to June 7 when he lost by unanimous decision against Waldo Cortes-Acosta.

Gets no help from judges in defeat
HeavyweightUFC
June 7, 2025
Spivac lost to Waldo Cortes-Acosta via unanimous decision (27-30, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC 316 on Saturday in Newark, New Jersey.
ANALYSIS
It's a crushing loss for Spivac in a fight he very well may have deserved to win. The 30-27 scorecard in Cortes-Acosta's favor is particularly laughable. Serghei was the clearly better man in Round 1 before his output and effectiveness dipped in Round 2. With the fight seemingly hanging in the balance in Round 3, Spivac landed the bigger shots and one huge takedown. Of course, none of this mattered because none of the three judges awarded him the first frame. Spivac has now lost three of four dating back to September 2023.
New opponent scheduled

April 23, 2025
Spivac is scheduled against fellow heavyweight Waldo Cortes-Acosta at UFC 316 on June 7 in Newark, according to Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Spivac was scheduled to fight Shamil Gaziev at UFC Qatar on May 17. Gaziev withdrew, leading to Spivac's next fight being scheduled for the UFC's Newark pay-per-view instead. Spivac is 2-2 across his last four games and will look to get back on track in June.
Next bout booked
HeavyweightUFC
February 27, 2025
Spivac will take on Shamil Gaziev in a heavyweight bout at UFC Qatar on May 17, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Spivac is coming off a tough loss by TKO against Jailton Almeida in the first round of a fight back in January. That dropped his UFC record to 8-5, and he's now split his last four contests (2-2) after posting two separate three-fight winning streaks earlier in his career. His opponent, meanwhile, is coming off two straight wins and has just one professional loss in his MMA career, but is newer to the UFC with a 3-1 record in the promotion.
Knocked out by Jailton Almeida
HeavyweightUFC
January 18, 2025
Spivac lost to Jailton Almeida via TKO (punches) at 4:53 of Round 1 at UFC 311 on Saturday in Los Angeles.
ANALYSIS
Fresh off a very strong performance in his first-round main event submission win over Marcin Tybura last August, Spivac was right back to his inconsistent ways here. He somehow managed to get knocked out in the opening frame despite landing a takedown and a reversal in Round 1. Spivac had two chances to dominant from top position and couldn't take advantage of either. Almeida eventually worked his way back to his feet and clipped Spivac with one huge blow which was the beginning of the end. Somehow still just 29 years of age for another week, Spivac is nothing but roster depth for a company which holds an event most every Saturday.
Set to face Almeida
HeavyweightUFC
October 4, 2024
Spivac will face Jailton Almeida in a heavyweight bout at UFC 311 on Jan. 18, 2025, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Spivac defeated Marcin Tybura in August this year in the main event of UFC Vegas 95, and he continues to perform at a high level since he's gone 7-2 over his last nine bouts. Facing Almeida won't be easy, however, as he'll take on an opponent who's also on an excellent run of form with a 7-1 record over his last eight starts.
