Brutally finished in Kansas City
BantamweightUFC
April 26, 2025
Saaiman lost to Malcolm Wellmaker via KO (punch) at 1:59 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Kansas City.
ANALYSIS
Saaiman began his UFC run with three straight wins -- in addition to a victory on Dana White's Contender Series -- but it has all fallen apart on him in the span of about 18 months. This was the most concerning performance to date. Facing an opponent making his UFC debut with all of eight professional appearances under his belt, Saaiman got destroyed with a sweeping right hand that knocked him out cold before he hit the mat. Wellmaker might be really good, but you can't be getting finished in an instant when you enter on a two-fight losing streak. Saaiman still has some theoretical upside because he won't be 25 years old until December, but he's probably going to have to go back to the regional scene before getting another shot at this level.

Wellmaker up next
BantamweightUFC
February 5, 2025
Saaiman will fight Malcolm Wellmaker at UFC Kansas City on April 26, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
After a 3-0 start to his UFC career, Saaiman has suffered back-to-back losses to Christian Rodriguez and Payton Talbott. The 24-year-old Saaiman will be desperate to turn things around against Wellmaker, who carries a perfect 8-0 record heading into his promotional debut.
Not competitive in Vegas loss
BantamweightUFC
March 23, 2024
Saaiman lost to Payton Talbott via TKO (punches) at 0:21 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It was a highly disappointing performance from Saaiman in a fight between two quality young prospects at bantamweight. Cameron attempted to go blow-for-blow with Talbott, but consistently was beaten to the punch. His opponent landed the much more damaging blows, and the toughness of Saaiman was the lone reason this fight lasted as long as it did. Refreee Chris Tognoni mercifully pulled the plug just seconds into Round 2 after Saaiman ate countless unanswered blows. The 23-year-old South African began his UFC run with three straight wins, in addition to a victory on Dana White's Contender Series, but he's lost his last two and will need to find a way to emerge victorious his next time out.
Scheduled against Talbott
BantamweightUFC
January 31, 2024
Saaiman is scheduled to compete against Payton Talbott in a bantamweight fight at the UFC Apex on March 23, according to Damon Martin of MMAFighting.com.
ANALYSIS
2023 was a mixed bag for Saaiman, who fought heavier opponents during two of his three fights that year. He defeated Mana Martinez but lost to Christian Rodriguez. But considering both his opponents came in heavy and the fact that Saaiman defeated Terrence Mitchell via first-round TKO as well, MSP remains a promising fighter for 2024, of which his will begin against a relatively recent UFC signee in Talbott.
Drops decision to heavy opponent
BantamweightUFC
October 14, 2023
Saaiman lost to Christian Rodriguez via unanimous decision (27-30, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Obviously no fighter enters a fight in hopes of coming up short, but the 22-year-old Saaiman can afford this setback. He entered with a perfect 9-0 record as a professional, plus he was going up against an opponent in Rodriguez that missed weight by four pounds Friday morning. As a result, it should come as no surprise Saaiman had the better gas tank, with Round 3 being his best frame. It wasn't enough to earn him the win, but he'll go home with 25 percent of Rodriguez's purse for his efforts, and we should see him back in the Octagon sooner rather than later.
Facing heavy opponent
BantamweightUFC
October 13, 2023
Saaiman will receive 25 percent of Christian Rodriguez's purse after the latter missed weight for their bantamweight matchup at UFC Fight Night on Saturday, Aaron Bronsteter of TSN.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
Saaiman is 3-0 since earning a contract through Dana White's Contender Series, and he'll receive a bonus for Saturday's bout since Rodriguez came in four pounds over the bantamweight limit.
