Billy Elekana

Picks up first UFC victory
Light HeavyweightUFC
July 26, 2025
Elekana defeated Ibo Aslan via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.
ANALYSIS
Elekana made his late-notice UFC debut in January and was submitted by Bogdan Guskov in Round 2. He got another chance here against Aslan with a full training camp and didn't look all that much better, although the end result was much different. In what was one of the most boring fights you will ever see between a pair of big men, Billy did just enough to win. He landed the bigger shots, although there was only about two or three the entire bout. It certainly wasn't the type of performance that will raise Elekana's stock despite emerging with the upset victory.

Quickly fades in late-notice debut
Light HeavyweightUFC
January 18, 2025
Elekana lost to Bogdan Guskov via submission (guillotine choke) at 3:33 of Round 2 at UFC 311 on Saturday in Los Angeles.
ANALYSIS
Making his UFC debut, Elekana accepted this fight less than a week ago following the withdrawal of Johnny Walker (undisclosed). Elekana landed an immediate takedown and threatened on the mat before quickly gassing out. Billy was nearly choked out at the end of Round 1, only to be saved by the bell. It was one-way traffic the rest of the way. Elekana is going to get another opportunity with the company due to his willingness to "save" this fight on short notice, but little should be expected.
To debut at UFC 311
Light HeavyweightUFC
January 14, 2025
Elekana will make his UFC debut in a light heavyweight matchup against Bogdan Guskov at UFC 311 on January 18, Alex Behunin of MMA Mania reports.
ANALYSIS
Elekana has just a 7-1 pro record at the age of 29, but he has competed under the banners of respected promotions such as LFA (2-1) and PFL (2-0). He gets this short-notice opportunity due to the late withdrawal of Johnny Walker (undisclosed) from the card. Elekana most recently picked up a first round victory over Jureall Simmons last July while fighting for the California-based Lights Out Xtreme Fighting. He now draws Guskov, who is on a two-fight UFC winning streak. Elekana sits as roughly a (+250) betting underdog with just a few days before weigh-ins.
