2025 Fantasy Outlook
After scoring a career-high 54 goals in 2023-24, Hyman collapsed to 27 goals and 44 points across 73 regular-season outings last year. That’s his lowest point total since 2020-21 when he played in just 43 games, and it’s a far cry from his height of 83 points in 2022-23. Hyman’s decline came despite playing regularly alongside Connor McDavid, which is a relationship that played a big role in his previous ascent. However, Hyman had an expected goals of 38 last season, and when you combine that with his career-low 41.1 IPP, it’s reasonable to believe he got very unlucky. Normally, he’d be a fantastic buy-low candidate, but Hyman suffered a wrist injury during the playoffs, which puts his availability for training camp in doubt. Hyman is still worth taking a chance on in the late rounds of a standard draft, but you should consider him a risky selection. Read Past Outlooks

Not ready for start of camp
Hyman (wrist) won't be ready to join the Oilers for the beginning of training camp, Mark Spector of Sportsnet reports.
ANALYSIS
Hyman underwent surgery to address a wrist injury in late May and is progressing in his recovery, but he'll need some additional rehab time ahead of the regular season. He's no longer in a cast and has resumed skating, but he'll spend some time away from the team to begin training camp. It isn't yet clear whether he'll be ready for the Oilers' regular-season opener against the Flames on Oct. 8, but it seems likely that he'll at least be in the mix to return around that time.

Hyman finished third in the league with 54 goals in 80 games during the 2023-24 campaign. His previous best for goals in a single season was the 36 he scored in 2022-23. Hyman's outburst was fueled by an 18.6 shooting percentage, which was the second-best mark of his career, but it isn't a sizable leap from his 15.0 shooting percentage in three seasons as a member of the Oilers. He also registered a career-high 290 shots on target. However, Connor McDavid's historic 100-assist performance may have had more to do with it than anything. McDavid assisted on 35 of Hyman's goals in 2023-24 after he had a hand in 19 of Hyman's goals in 2022-23. The 32-year-old Hyman has netted 15 power-play tallies in back-to-back seasons. He should be productive again in 2024-25 with 75-85 points, but a return to the 50-goal milestone may be asking too much.

Done for series?
Hyman, who sustained an upper-body injury during Edmonton's 4-1 victory against Dallas in Game 4 on Tuesday, is unlikely to return before the end of the Western Conference Finals, Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 Edmonton reports Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
The Oilers could end the series with a victory in Game 5 on Thursday, but Hyman might not be able to return even if Dallas extends the series beyond that point. Hyman has made his presence known throughout the 2025 playoffs with five goals, 11 points, 30 shots and a league-leading 111 hits, so his absence is a meaningful blow to Edmonton. Jeff Skinner might draw into the lineup after being a healthy scratch since April 21.
