2025 Fantasy Outlook
Lucic didn't play in 2024-25, but he was able to secure a professional tryout agreement with St. Louis ahead of the 2025-26 campaign. The hulking forward last appeared in the NHL two years ago, notching two assists across four regular-season games with the Bruins. The Blues have plenty of depth up front, so the 37-year-old will have an uphill battle to make the team out of training camp. Even if he does, Lucic would probably be a recurrent healthy scratch, which doesn't translate to the veteran being an option for fantasy managers. Read Past Outlooks

ANALYSIS
Lucic didn't play in the NHL last season after first taking an indefinite leave of absence during the 2023-24 season and then entering the NHL Player Assistance Program. The 37-year-old winger has since been reinstated by the league and will look to revive his NHL career. Over the course of 17 seasons, Lucic racked up 233 goals and 353 assists while also dishing out 3265 hits. If he makes the Blues, it figures to be in a bottom-six role that will lean into his physicality.

Lucic left the Bruins following the 2014-15 season. He made stops in Los Angeles, Edmonton and Calgary, spending last year with the Flames and managing just seven goals and 19 points in 77 games. Lucic added 168 hits, but he doesn't produce enough offensively anymore to be a worthy fantasy consideration. The big man signed a one-year, $1 million deal to return to Boston on the first day of free agency. He'll add some toughness and respectability to the club's fourth line, but that's about all the 35-year-old offers at the latter stages of his career.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

PTO target for New Jersey?
Lucic is expected to join the Devils on a professional tryout agreement, per PuckPedia.
ANALYSIS
Lucic didn't play after sustaining an ankle injury early last season, and the Bruins parted ways with him at the end of the campaign. The veteran forward also faced criminal charges in a domestic assault case, but those charges were dropped due to lack of evidence in February. If Lucic lands a full contract from the Devils, he is unlikely to be anything more than a fourth-line player this season.
