2025 Fantasy Outlook
Guentzel generated a career-high 41 goals and reached the 80-point plateau for the second time in his nine-year NHL career. He led the league with 17 power-play tallies while placing 25th overall in points (25) with the man advantage. After signing a seven-year, $63 million contract with the Lightning in July 2024, Guentzel was a solid fit as a trigger-man alongside Brayden Point and Nikita Kucherov. The 30-year-old Guentzel's 18.9 shooting percentage could be a red flag going into 2025-26, but another point-per-game pace is well within his reach as a valuable top-six forward and finisher on a potent power play. In order to facilitate the signing of Guentzel to a seven-year, $63 million contract, the Lightning had to part ways with long-time captain Steven Stamkos. Guentzel should immediately replace Stammer on both the first line and the No. 1 power-play, and has the added benefit of being five years younger. After splitting time between the Penguins and Hurricanes last year, the dynamic winger was able to reach the 30-goal threshold for the third consecutive season, despite playing in just 67 regular-season contests. If he can stay healthy this upcoming campaign, Guentzel should be more than capable of challenging for the 40-goal mark in 2024-25, especially if he stays on a line with an elite playmaker in Nikita Kucherov.
