2025 Fantasy Outlook
Health has been an issue for Richardson since the Colts drafted him fourth overall in 2023. He’s missed 17 of 34 games, including four last season with hip, oblique, foot and back injuries (he was benched while healthy for two other games). Perhaps an even greater issue is Richardson’s accuracy. Last year, it was off the chart -- the bottom of the chart. At 54.9 percent, his on-target rate was last in the league by more than 12 percentage points, and his 47.7 completion percentage was the worst since Tim Tebow's 46.5 in 2011. It doesn’t help that Richardson is in love with the deep ball. He threw 20.1 percent of his attempts at least 20 yards downfield -- far and away tops in the league -- and had a league-high 12.2-yard average target depth. Yet, he converted that to a mere 6.8 YPA (25th). His massive rushing production -- 499 yards and six scores in 11 games -- was the one saving grace for his fantasy value, but he nonetheless failed to reach 14 fantasy points in seven games (four with single digits). This year, he could lose the starting job to free-agent signing Daniel Jones, who will split first-team reps at training camp. The Colts have solid skill-position players, and Jonathan Taylor likely will get around 20 carries per game again, so Richardson doesn’t have to be prolific. He just has to be not terrible, nor constantly injured. There’s still hope his accuracy improves with better footwork and touch, as he turned 23 in May and has just 348 NFL pass attempts to his name. Even modest improvement might be enough to yield low-end QB1 production for fantasy given his rushing skills, but he'll need a bigger step forward to keep the starting job all year. Off to slow start at camp
Richardson struggled with his passing during the first two practices of training camp, according to James Boyd of The Athletic.
ANALYSIS
The good news for Richardson is no report of any issue or setback with the right shoulder injury that held him out of June minicamp. He seems to be a full participant so far in training camp, although it sounds like he hasn't done himself any favors so far in the competition with Daniel Jones. Both quarterbacks are getting first-team reps, with Boyd noting that the Colts defense has looked better than the offense so far.

2023
Richardson’s rookie season earned an "incomplete" thanks to injuries, but his four-game debut showed glimpses of why the Colts made him the fourth overall pick in 2023. He suffered a bruised knee in Week 1, a concussion in Week 2 that also cost him the next game and a season-ending shoulder injury in Week 5 that required surgery. He showed off his big arm at times, though he didn’t throw deep a lot -- just 7.1 percent of his attempts went beyond 20 yards -- and his accuracy, while still a work in progress, wasn’t necessarily the Achilles' heel some expected. His running game is already top-tier, and he proved as elusive and powerful as advertised en route to 5.4 yards per rush (8th among QBs with at least 25 attempts) and four touchdowns. On 14 designed runs, he averaged a QB-high 7.0 yards per rush. The uber-athletic Richardson has an unprecedented size/speed combo -- 6-4, 244 with a 4.43 40 -- that should give him a solid fantasy floor while his passing develops. Coach Shane Steichen, who guided the development of Jalen Hurts in Philadelphia, will undoubtedly encourage Richardson to better protect himself, but the QB will still form a nasty two-headed rushing attack with RB Jonathan Taylor. WRs Michael Pittman, Josh Downs and Alec Pierce are reliable targets, and the team drafted 6-2 Adonai Mitchell, who has 4.34 speed, to give Richardson the deep threat he did not have last season. Better health might be all that's needed for Richardson to quickly jump into the top 5 of fantasy quarterbacks.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Draws support from team owner
Colts owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon said that Richardson still has a chance to prove he is the team's franchise quarterback, JJ Stankevitz of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Much of the momentum for the Colts' starting quarterback job appears to have gone toward Daniel Jones this offseason, but Richardson received some positive news when he was cleared to throw prior to training camp. Irsay-Gordon also noted she wants to see a sense of urgency from Richardson, which she believes will occur due to the competition from Jones. While at one point this summer it seemed very likely that Jones would open the season as the Colts' starter, that may no longer be the case as training camp begins.
