James Laubstein News: Battling with Layne for QB1

Laubstein is in a quarterback battle with Jack Layne in fall camp, per Sean Reider of the Albuquerque Journal.

Laubstein reportedly got the first reps with the starters in the Lobos first practice, but didn't play as well as Layne. This should be a tight race, but the winner will be decided in less than three weeks as New Mexico will announce the starting signal caller on Aug. 18 before classes start.
