2025 Fantasy Outlook
Young missed most of 2022 and 2023 rehabbing from Tommy John surgery. His 93-mph fastball isn't dominating, but it's effective as part of a five-pitch arsenal including a cutter, change-up, curveball and a show-me slider. Individually, none grade as a plus-offering, but Young exhibits solid control and command, so together he punched out 132 with a reasonable 37 walks with just eight homers allowed in 111 innings last season. He started 24 of 27 combined appearances in Double- and Triple-A, though the Orioles restricted his pitch count until August. Young profiles as a back-end-of-the-rotation innings eater. The Orioles added him to their 40-man roster to protect him from the Rule 5 draft, but that could also facilitate calling him up when a spot starter is needed, or for a longer stretch as an injury replacement. His stuff may not play as well against major league hitters, so he's a speculative stash. Read Past Outlooks

Up as 27th man for doubleheader
The Orioles recalled Young from High-A Aberdeen and have designated him as the 27th man for Tuesday's doubleheader with the Blue Jays at Camden Yards, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Analysis
Young is expected to start the second game of the twin bill. The right-hander hasn't fared well during his previous opportunities with the big club, collecting a 7.77 ERA over five starts. Young is likely to be returned to Norfolk after the spot start.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Out of mix for Wednesday
Young isn't a candidate to start Wednesday against the Mets since he pitched for Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday, reports Danielle Allentuck of TheBaltimoreBanner.com.
Analysis
The 26-year-old was recently named a candidate to step into Baltimore's rotation down the stretch by GM Mike Elias, but the right-hander's Triple-A schedule didn't line up with Zach Eflin's shoulder injury, which created the opening for Wednesday's contest. Young could still make his MLB debut later in the season, though it may require Eflin to miss more than the 15-day minimum if the Orioles are going to go through the trouble of adding Young to the 40-man roster.
