2025 Fantasy Outlook
Martin worked as a utility player in his first stint in the majors holding his own at the plate (94 wRC+). He was regarded as a top prospect as the fifth overall pick in 2020, but he hasn't lived up to that billing given his lack of power (.099 ISO last year in the majors). He does display strong command of the strike zone with low strikeout and strong walk rates in his career (though he drew just 7.8% BB% in the majors). He has above-average sprint speed, so he could add some stolen bases. His speed makes him an option in center field, but he graded poorly by advanced metrics. He's not seen as a strong glove at second base either, but his versatility could land him a utility job. Given his lack of power and clear position, it's hard to envision him winning an everyday job but at age 26 next season he could improve significantly given his pedigree. Read Past Outlooks

Emerging as top left fielder
Martin will start in left field and bat second in Wednesday's game against the Angels.
Analysis
Martin will cover left field for the fourth straight game and appears to have emerged as the Twins' preferred option at the position over James Outman. Since the start of September, Martin has slashed .385/.484/.462 with two doubles, a 5:4 BB:K and six runs.

2021
Martin didn't make his Triple-A debut until July 3 after missing the first three months of the season while recovering from a UCL sprain in his elbow. He put up a decent .791 OPS with six homers and 16 steals over 59 games for Triple-A St. Paul. A key part of the 2021 Jose Berrios trade with Toronto, Martin was regarded as a top prospect as the fifth overall pick in 2020. He hasn't lived up to that hype given his injuries and lack of power (.142 ISO at Triple-A). He does display strong command of the strike zone with low strikeout and strong walk rates. He's seen as potential option in center field but isn't seen having the glove to stick at second base. He could emerge as a center field option should the Twins need depth given Byron Buxton's injury history. However, Martin may need to prove himself at Triple-A.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Demotion incoming?
Byron Buxton is expected to return from his knee injury Saturday, reports Darren Wolfson of Channel 5 Saint Paul, at which point Martin could be optioned to Triple-A St. Paul.
Analysis
Martin rejoined the big club May 3 when Buxton landed on the injured list but has just five starts in Minnesota's 13 games during that stretch. Martin has a .224/.289/.355 slash line in 83 plate appearances and is a logical candidate to be sent down given his current role as a reserve outfielder.
