Fitzgerald's production decelerated from his fun numbers just a season ago. The risk/reward in 2024 was obvious with the well below-average strikeout rate but his 15 homers and 17 steals prorated over 600 plate appearanceslooked very enticing to fantasy manager. Our 2025 outlook painted all the risks associated with Fitzgerald and his issues with contact, which have not improved. He owns a 30.1% strikeout rate since the midsummer break in 2024 in just under 500 plate appearances with a sub-70% overall contact rate and an in-zone contact rate at 80%. Fitzgerald lost his regular playing time to Casey Schmitt and Christian Koss as the season wore on and he is currently on the outside looking in for the projected opening day roster. Fitzgerald's speed is still enticing, but he has to reach first base more consistently for him to utilize that skill and he is struggling to show he is capable of making the necessary adjustments to do so.
