Hernandez did his usual thing for the Dodgers last season, playing multiple positions while gliding through a ho-hum regular season before taking on a key role during the playoffs. The fan-favorite utility man's .621 OPS during the regular season was his lowest mark since 2016, though he offered a bit of power with 10 long balls and 35 RBI over 256 plate appearances. At this point in his career, there's no expectation that Hernandez is going to challenge for an All-Star nod, and nearly all of his offensive Statcast metrics fell below league-average last season. With that said, his value as a defender is underrated -- he not only played every position except catcher, shortstop, and right field last season but did so reasonably well, posting a fielding run value in the 68th percentile. Hernandez may take some time to land on a roster, as he underwent elbow surgery in the offseason and isn't expected to be ready to play by Opening Day. The most likely scenario is that he ends up back in Los Angeles, where he can take his time getting back to full health with another run at postseason glory in mind. Read Past Outlooks
