2026 Fantasy Outlook
Wesneski was dealt from the Cubs to his hometown Astros last offseason in the deal that sent Kyle Tucker to Chicago. The 28-year-old cracked the Opening Day rotation and had some bright spots early on, going seven innings in his second start and striking out a career-high 10 batters in his third outing. It was short-lived, however, as Wesneski required Tommy John surgery in late May. The operation will likely keep him sidelined at least until the second half of the 2026 season, and odds are he won't be closer to his pre-surgery form until 2027. Wesneski has teased fantasy managers at times but has had more success as a reliever (3.56 ERA, 26.4 percent strikeout rate) than a starter (4.28 ERA, 21 percent strikeout rate) and has had platoon issues (.327 wOBA versus lefties). Once he's healthy, the Astros could give him another chance to start. Read Past Outlooks
