2026 Fantasy Outlook
Spaun had an absolute breakout season in 2025 that was highlighted by his triumph at the U.S. Open at the incredibly difficult Oakmont Country Club. As strong as his campaign was, it truly could have been even better as he was defeated in playoffs at THE PLAYERS Championship and the FedEx St. Jude Championship. Spaun also finished T2 at the Cognizant Classic and T3 at the Sony Open. The 35-year-old is a tough player to project going into 2026. On one hand you look at the numbers from last season and see a player who ranked top 10 on Tour in SG: Approach, SG: Tee-to-Green and Scoring Average. On the other you see a player who had never made more than $3 million in a season prior to 2025. Something will have to give going into 2026. Read Past Outlooks
MC at The Genesis Invitational
Spaun posted a 36-hole score of four-over par to miss the cut at The Genesis Invitational by four shots.
ANALYSIS
Spaun struggled with his game off the tee this past weekend at The Genesis Invitational where he lost strokes to the field in SG: Off-The-Tee in both rounds thanks to him only hitting 16 of 28 fairways. To make matters worse, Spaun wasn't able to pick up strokes on the green to make up for his poor play off the tee. In fact, Spaun lost more than three strokes to the field in round one in SG: Putting, ranking 63rd in the field. While hi SG: Putting numbers improved in the second round, it wasn't enough to make up for the mistakes. It was another disappointing outing for the home town favorite who now has two missed cuts on the season and hasn't finished better than T40 in any tournament this year. Spaun will look to turn things around during the Florida swing.

The first half of 2024 was about as bad as it could get for Spaun, as he missed 10 cuts in his first 15 events with zero top-25s. To his credit, he was able to turn things around following a three-week layoff in June to post four top-10s across the final 13 events. His iron play was the big reason for the turnaround - he gained strokes on approach in 10 of those starts with four tournaments of over a stroke gained per round. That's always been the best part of his game with his short game lagging behind. If he can start the year in better form, he's a solid bet to make the playoffs this year.
