2026 Projections
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Not many players have changed their skills profile as drastically as Benintendi in the last few seasons. His flyball rate has increased from 34.7 to 48.8 percent since 2023, and his barrel rate took a corresponding leap to a career-high 11.0 percent clip in 2025. Unfortunately, that hasn't led to a significant uptick in fantasy value for a few different reasons. The first is that shifting his batted ball profile so significantly has harmed his batting average. Benintendi has a career .305 BABIP, yet he has marks of just .245 and .250 the last two seasons. The other two factors are out of his control. The White Sox have had a dismal lineup the last few seasons, and that looks unlikely to change in 2026. Finally, Benintendi has over 600 plate appearances only once in the last five years, which also cuts down on his counting stat potential. Benintendi can be a decent source of power in deeper leagues, but he is a meaningful contributor in one category at this point in his career given the evaporation of his stolen bases. Expected back later this week
Benintendi (side) took some swings Sunday and is expected to return to Cactus League action after the White Sox's off day Wednesday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Analysis
Benintendi was scratched from the Cactus League lineup this past Friday due to right side soreness and has remained out since then. However, Benintendi said Monday that the White Sox are just exercising caution with him, adding that he would be playing if it were the regular season. Benintendi will be Chicago's primary left fielder in 2026 but will also see starts at designated hitter.

In 2024 Benintendi matched his career high with 20 homers, first achieved in his first full season in the majors. He posted his highest barrel rate since 2021 and highest fly-ball rate ever. The added lift dropped his BABIP (and batting average) to its lowest in a full season. The result was a 93 wRC+, the second straight season he was below average. After stealing 13 bases the prior year, he stopped taking advantage of the new rules with 10 fewer bags. Surprisingly, Benintendi's minus-13 defensive runs saved were the worst of all left fielders. The White Sox are committed to Benintendi through 2027; his weak bat and subpar glove will be in the lineup. Volume is his main asset, leaving him as a back-end outfielder with no upside.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
ChiSox willing to absorb salary
The White Sox are willing to absorb some salary in order to facilitate a trade of Benintendi, Ken Rosenthal and Will Sammon of The Athletic report.
Analysis
However, Benintendi might be very difficult to move in a trade even if the White Sox are OK with eating some money. He's making $16.5 million in 2025 and is owed $31 million through 2027, which is a large chunk of change for a player who has a .246/.309/.384 slash line with Chicago and is no longer a plus defender.
